To buy or not to buy?

That is the question.

Yesterday evening after work, a friend asked me to go window-shopping.  She said she didn’t want to stay in the office anymore because she’s going to work overtime today anyway, but she also didn’t want to go home early.  So we decided to go to Greenbelt and just look around.  She didn’t exactly know what she wanted to see so she asked me to lead the way.  My feet brought us first to Avant.

I was hyped at the sight of a sticker on the glass door that said, “We sell iPods here” or something like that.  We went around looking for the iPods but got distracted by the Mac notebooks.  After tinkering with the notebooks, I asked a salesman where the iPods were.  He pointed us to the second level.  I was kinda disappointed to see that there wasn’t any sample unit.  Everything was boxed.  They have the same prices with Power MAC so I decided that Avant wasn’t the right store.  We left.

After going around the entirety of Greenbelt, we decided to go home.  On the way though, we passed by a Power MAC store and I couldn’t resist going inside.  I first checked the Classic, and it was amazingly fast! Even the click wheel was very easy to navigate.  I checked the demo photos and they looked great on the screen too.  Unfortunately there was no other video on the unit except for the demo video so I couldn’t say much about that feature.  I swear the Classic was calling me “mommy!”

I also tried the Nano and the Touch but I didn’t like them as much.  The Nano screen is too small for me.  I also don’t like the fact that there’s an abundance of Nano-looking players in bazaars.  The Touch, on the other hand,  is too professional looking for me.   I don’t know how else to put it, but it’s simply not me.  And of course, both the Nano and Touch have limited storage.  So, it’s still the Classic I’m planning to get.  At least I know what I really want now.

I’m not sure if I’m still willing to wait for my new credit card to arrive or if I’m just going to use my old credit card with me.  Or if I’m going to save up for it first, and then buy it in cash when I have saved enough.  I was chatting with another friend last night and she told me to go buy it now.   She said I deserve it because I’ve been working hard for so long.  She told me not to wait until I’ve saved enough money as long as I could get it at 0% interest (which is really the case anyway).

I am off to the mall later to buy some stuff for my brother.  I am definitely going to the Power MAC store again, but I’m not sure if I’m already buying.  I need some more justifications.  Why do I want it so much? I don’t know.  All I know is that I’m human with occasional wants in life.  I was asking myself this morning, “Isn’t wanting it enough reason?”  I mean, I think I’m entitled to sometimes get what I want.  Oh God, I am so torn.
